My name is Janéne Steenkamp. I live in Hout Bay with my husband and daughter, and our two hounds of love.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought me gifts of recalibrating, reframing, reinventing and relocating. It has also highlighted the deep need for us all to engage in personal rewilding, and how supporting this journey is what my work in the world is becoming.
In 2022 I launch my reimagined Earthmark venture - bringing my focus to reconnecting humans and nature, and from there holding space for fostering joy, creativity, relationship and healing.
January 2022 marks my certification as a Forest Therapy Guide with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy. In August this will be followed by the completion of an Eco-Arts Therapy qualification through Project Nature Connect. This certificate course is also the first year of my studies toward a degree in Applied Ecopsychology.
I trained as an artist at the Johannesburg Art Foundation in the late 1990s, and also completed my art-teaching qualification through UJ/CDP partnership. I taught at St Stithians Boys’ College in Gauteng before turning my attention to creative corporate facilitation, cartooning, photography and design.
